Check Out for Children (COFC) is an alliance between Starwood Hotels & Resorts and UNICEF running in the EAME (Europe, Africa and the Middle East) and Asia Pacific regions. The Check Out for Children mechanism is incredibly simple yet effective. Upon arrival at a participating Starwood hotel, guests are advised about the partnership and upon check-out, they will be invited to add USD$1 (or local currency equivalent) to their bill. This donation to UNICEF helps to transform the lives of vulnerable children.
Check Out for Children was launched in Europe in 1995 and supported immunisation against six killer diseases until 2008. During this time, Starwood guests have donated enough to immunise over 1 million children.
In 2008, Check Out for Children widened its remit to support other areas of UNICEF’s work through various programmes. Through this approach COFC has helped over 460,000 children survive and thrive in the communities Starwood operates in. Find out more about the individual projects here.
Since 2012, hotels have been supporting UNICEF’s education programmes that work to give every child free primary education and help to make schools a safe and healthy place for all. Donations from Starwood guests are helping to build and improve schools, train teachers, provide essential school supplies, and help children return to school after emergencies.
Thank you to our guests
When you check out from our hotels and add a simple $1 to your bill, you make a difference to a child’s life. Every $1 makes a difference and together we can help create a better future for the world’s children. Thank you.
